In prehistoric Southeast Asia there was a vessel that was instrumental in shaping its very challenging geography. This vessel was known as Balangay, it is an outrigger canoe that helped shape the unique geography of Southeast Asia by connecting different cultures into a mesh of network despite being divided by vast oceans. This network is hypothesized by archaeologist Wilhelm Solheim II as the Nusantao Maritime Trading and Communications Network. Through this network diverse cultures were enabled to download, upload, and share goods, ideas, and culture. This is familiar to us now, however different, as the Internet.
Today, Radio Kosaten will embody this vessel as a potent tool in shaping our contemporary geography by allowing to flow diversity, solidarity, dignity, ideas, and freedom that is currently blocked by enclosed language, borders, hate, militarism, and xenophobia. This radio project that thrive in the Internet will symbolically sail into the high seas to perform the culture of possibility in aspiring a better world.
